B) PERSONS AND INTERESTS
BARRON, Lawrence ("Larry"), Murray.
[Other nicknames .. "The Barron"]
Contact: barronjandl "at" optusnet.com.au
Interests: Geology and chemistry. Rocks of all sorts, world travel, various minerals and commodities, but above all DIAMONDS (e.g. mineral inclusions to determine P/T of formation, and Raman spectroscopy). He is particularly interested in diamonds from NSW, and from Kalimantan in Indonesia - and in comparisons with modes of occurrence in other countries. List of publications.
Larry retired from government service as Principal Research Scientist (Petrologist), and continues work on the rock collection of the Australian Museum. He has almost certainly seen seen more rocks from New South Wales under the microscope than any other living person. His Ph.D. (McGill University, Montreal) was on "Thermodynamic Multicomponent Silicate Equilibrium Phase Calculations".
